Increasing virtualbox screen size before installing

Im wondering if someone knows for to make the screen size in virtualbox larger?
I know about installing the guest additions after the os in installed. I'm talking about when you first
start a session. Certain distros dont display the whole screen.

The way  I read it this might not be what you want but here goes.

When you start the new machine along the top in the menu bar it says
file machine view input devices help
choose view and scroll down to the last entry and you can change it to scale up to 200%.
