laptop power usage
#1
What is the best way to optimize power usage(battery life) for Ubuntu 18.04lts?I am using a Dell Latitude E6520 with Sandybridge mobile graphics and running a 240 gb SSD,sata.I am getting about 2 hrs battery life on Ubuntu. No idea what it did with Windows.Only ran Windows for about 2 min before I installed Ubuntu.Being an older machine, maybe thats as good as it gets.

Hey there Bob.
You can try installing TLP which do some power management and improve battery life.

You can also use this command to see what condition your battery is in so you know what to expect.

Code:
inxi --battery

I second this: TLP is a great tool to reduce power management.
However its default configuration is often not aggressiv enough
to make any noteworthy difference. If I recall correctly, its
configuration file is located at '/etc/default/tlp'.

Remember to enable 'tlp.service' after the installation.

I used to reduce my maximum processor usage to about 50% on battery
with tlp and that gave me some additional time.
