Every distro just makes motherboard freeze? (on splash screen)

If it waited till it started you could not just take the drive from a broken computer and plug it into another box and keep going, with windows you have to in essense reinstall the OS to move it to another box if it will even let you do it.

Despite, adding and removing hot-pluggable hardware during boot should not cause Linux to crash.
I have the bad habit of deciding mid-boot to (not) use my external keyboard, mouse and screen,
so I plug / unplug them without any issues.
