BUB is now available for download.

Introducing BUB the Big Ugly Brother of ZUB. Built with dialog rather than zenity. Which makes it faster although a bit uglier. Works great with headless machines as well as normal desktops. It does everything that ZUB does. Only it does it inside the terminal.

They can both be downloaded here

here is the post I did for ZUB

When working with 'dialog', try using the '--no-lines' flag, which will look better in most cases.

That is interesting. I changed the entire script to --no-lines yesterday, so now it doesn't look so 1995. And now i am debating on whether or not to use -- no-shadows. I am thinking no, Because it makes it look a little to flat without shadows. But I am still undecided. I built BUB in six days. All 1700+ lines, so I kinda just through it all together. now I am cleaning up the mess and tweaking it. While at the same time keeping the script as simple as possible, so a novice with minimal scripting knowledge can understand it.

But yes, that was a good tip. I had already done it so clearly I absolutely agree.

I am still cleaning it up, and as I said there are 1700+ lines so I'm sure I have missed a few things.
So far I have cleaned over 50 bad forms. so if anyone sees something out of place, any ideas are always welcome.

I will look into it, that's a good idea.
Although if you need help installing the driver for your system
Open a terminal and enter
Code:
sudo lshw -c display
# or
sudo lshw -c video

Your looking for the lines that have
Product:
Vendor:
and
Configuration:

Product and vendor are hardware, configuration is the software currently used

Most important is the "product:" line.

Then in the terminal enter

Code:
sudo ubuntu-drivers devices

That should give you a list of available drivers for your hardware
If you see a nonfree option, you're good. As your request. Choose that one. Like this.

When installing a driver, if it is possible, it is best to use
Code:
sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall

But if that doesn't work, try this
Code:
# with sudo lshw -c display
# Get the version number from the (product:) line
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-version-number
# For exsample,
# For GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
# sudo apt install nvidia-driver-390
# Then
sudo shutdown -r now

Manually turn on the computer again. (this is to completely flush out all the RAM) just rebooting doesn't.
Once again run

sudo lshw -c display

You should see your new driver now at work

as a rule
G8x, G9x and GT2xx GPUs use `nvidia-340` (340.104)

NV4x and G7x GPUs use `nvidia-304` (304.137)

If you still don't have the correct drivers. post the output of

Code:
sudo lshw -c display
# and
sudo ubuntu-drivers devices

I will see what I can do about helping you.
This should tide you over until I figure out how to add an installer that can do all/any NVIDIA Driver. Not sure if it can be done. But I am going to try.

Kudos

As an update, an Arch version of BUB is in the works.

I am calling it BOW. It is still in the building stages.

It is half written at the time of this post.

Keep an eye on this thread to be the first to be able to test it.

BOW is ready. here is the link.

https://gitlab.com/arrrowlinux/zub
it is
bow.sh
In a terminal, migrate to its location

Code:
cd /your/file/location

run as root

Code:
sudo ./bow.sh
This is for Arch Linux/Manjaro/Antergos

it is still being developed, but it is usable. I use it daily. so far. no bugs
