Screen lock with light-locker on gnome-based distros

I'm a big fan of the Budgie DE, so I have it installed on my Arch system. For login management, I use LightDM with the GTK greeter, and I'd like to use light-locker as a screen locker to be in unison with the LightDM.
My problem is, that if I pull gnome-screensaver from the repos (that's discontinued btw),  that works fine, locks the system when clicking on the lock command in the menu, so that works, but the same is not true for light-locker.
The problem seems to be identical to this one, but the workaround doesn't seem to work for me.

Is there anyone in the community, who played with Budgie (or other GNOME derivatives) and managed to make LightDM work?
My top 10 reasons to still use Arch after 2 months on my main PC at home.
